Welded Model Train

If you take a look at the last couple of entries, you’ll be able to tell that the weather has cooled off, and I’ve made the switch from motorcycle riding to welding.
So far, I’ve completed a pair of bookends, a Christmas tree, and this model train.
This train is the project that I’m the most proud of. It was a great project to work on.
The parts list includes a piece of 2″ plumbing pipe for the boiler, a piece of 1/2″ pipe for the stack, some sheet metal, a couple of pieces of angle iron, some nuts & bolts, and some filler rod.
This is the first project that I’ve used TIG for the majority of the welds. Most of the time, I just zap stuff together with the MIG. It was good practice, and I think it turned out great!
A few of my coworkers want me to make a set with a tinder car, box car, and caboose. Winter is just starting, so it is a possibility.
